The first few years I attended CES I always had a regular stop at the Atlantic booth to see what new gaming storage gear they were bringing out. Unfortunately, Atlantic didn’t attend in 2009 or 2010, so I lost touch with them a bit and didn’t realize they were back in 2011. On the way to another appointment, I actually swung by their booth just to check things out and reacquaint myself with the team and see what they brought. Mary Jo, Atlantic’s Director of Sales, showed me around the booth and I was able to see several impressive storage solutions.
First thing that caught my eye was the
Spyder stand, which is the newest piece in Atlantic’s Game Storage Collection. The stand is made of steel and combines a pedestal-style base and a flat panel mount that can hold up to 40” TVs up to 90lbs. In addition, another 60lbs worth of consoles and gear can be added to the Spyder, which also has an open-air design for maximum ventilation. The Spyder should be available sometime in March and retail for around $129.
Another piece that I thought was pretty cool was the
Pyramid G, which is another steel open-air storage solution. The blue color was definitely cool, but what I really liked was the sheer amount of gear you could pack into this thing. The display piece on the show floor had two consoles, a skateboard controller, multiple regular controllers, enough media storage for around 20 games and a place to put two guitars. There were also miscellaneous baskets and hooks all over the Pyramid G to place the oddball things like headsets, gun accessories and the like. Did I mention that it also has a flat panel TV mount incorporated in that can hold up to a 37" TV and 50lbs? This piece is something I can see in my basement or one of my kid’s rooms as they get older. Unfortunately due to time constraints, I did not get the availability or price point for when this will hit market.
The one thing I saw that I didn’t get a photo of was their
Simple Desk G, which is being marketed as a gamer’s desk. Much like the design of the Pyramid G and Spyder, it has wire legs and storage areas coupled with a flat surface area and elevated monitor stand. One of the coolest pieces was the drink holder that was mounted on a leg below the main surface so you don’t have to worry about knocking over your beverage and ruing whatever is sitting on your desktop.
