Namco has been extremely busy the last few days with several new titles being added to platforms all over the place. First up is classic
Dig Dug now available as a
Facebook App. So now you can play the classic arcade game for free instead of buying any of the 5 billion iterations out there. It uses basic arrow key (or the W A S D keys) to navigate and space to pump. I tested it, and it has a few flaws, but I am sure they will continue to be tweaked.
Namco has also had a couple of new apps hit the Apple AppStore the last few days. First up is
Buccaneer Blitz, which is being touted as a 3D RTS game. The basic gameplay involves building fleets to conquer islands and repel invading ships. As a bonus, the game is part of GameCenter and supports multiplayer through Wi-Fi, online and Bluetooth. Buccaneer Blitz is currently available for $2.99, and has the option to add 12 additional levels for another $0.99.
The second AppStore title is
House of Glass, which was built exclusively for the iPad. It is a 3D tangram puzzle title that uses the free-to-play model. There are 30 puzzles, 25 achievements and it will have DLC and user generated content available.
The last title is actually an update with the release of Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom – Special Challenge Pack on PlayStation Network. The challenge pack adds in new game play styles of Battle Challenge, Sneak Challenge and Puzzle Challenge, with four new levels each. Also included are unique costumes for Tepeu and Majin that provide unique abilities and powers. The Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom – Special Challenge Pack can be had for $1.99
Namco Networks Launches Buccaneer Blitz on App Store
Use Strategy to Take Siege on Enemy Islands
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Namco Networks, a leading publisher and developer of interactive content, today announced the launch of Buccaneer Blitz, the latest addition to Namco’s suite of iPhone™, iPod touch®, and iPad™ games. Available now on Apple’s App Store, the game can be purchased for $2.99. An additional 12 levels can be downloaded for an extra $0.99.
In Namco’s newest 3D real-time strategy (RTS) title, Buccaneer Blitz, players find their inner pirate and set sail to conquer 15 enemy levels in campaign mode. In each stage, the player builds fleets to destroy invading ships and take over as many islands as possible. In an effort to do so, players can sacrifice their population to build up mana, which can be used to unleash spells on enemies or give ships an extra speed boost. Buccaneer Blitz not only includes Game Center but also offers a multiplayer mode, which is fully supported with Wi-Fi, online and Bluetooth networking.
According to Namco Networks’ Executive Producer, Jonathan Kromrey, “Our goal with this new IP was to develop a real-time strategy game that met both the hardcore and casual audiences. Not only does Buccaneer Blitz offer multiplayer mayhem, but the tutorials and game mechanics make it extremely easy to understand but hard to master.”

Namco Networks Brings House of Glass Exclusively to iPad
App Store’s First-Ever Three-Dimensional Tangram Game
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Namco Networks, a leading publisher and developer of interactive content, today announced the release of its latest title, exclusively for iPad, House of Glass. Internally developed by Order of Magnitude, the game uses a freemium model, allowing consumers to try before purchasing.
House of Glass is the first three-dimensional (3D) tangram puzzle game for iPad. It brings players to a mysterious mansion where they must navigate their way through six rooms, locate hidden objects and solve an immersive plot. While it may seem relatively simple, there are more than 30 puzzles awaiting, each becoming increasingly more complicated and requiring quite a bit of moving, rotating and flipping pieces on different axes to solve. Progress is tracked through 25 possible achievements, including completion of tangram puzzles and minigames or finding specific objects. An online leaderboard displays the user with the fastest completion time. Future updates will allow access to more levels through content packs and user-generated content.
“We are always looking for ways to alter the current game genres available on the App Store,” said Jonathan Kromrey, Executive Producer, Namco Networks. “Bringing a completely fresh and engaging twist to tangram puzzle games was no easy task, but we think players will love it. It’s a hidden gem this holiday.”
