Discounts on select PS3 Rock Band songs

If you don't already own these tracks, now is a good time to jump on board.  Harmonix and MTV Games are running a sale on select Rock Band tracks on the PS3.  It's in celebration of the upcoming Rock Band 3 release on October 26.  The sale starts today and runs until October 4, creating discounts up to 50% off on individuals tracks, packs and even entire albums.  The full list is pictured below.

Cambridge, Mass. – Sept. 21, 2010 – Harmonix and MTV Games today announced a sale on Rock Band downloadable content for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system to celebrate the October release of Rock Band™3 . From Sept. 21, 2010 until Oct. 4, 2010, select singles, song packs and albums will be available for up to 50 percent off through the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content for PlayStation 3, including Megadeth, Avenged Sevenfold, Foreigner, Rise Against, Slipknot, The Offspring, Stone Temple Pilots and more.

“We hope our PlayStation 3 fans enjoy playing these specially-priced songs in Rock Band 2 today, and also in Rock Band 3 in just a few weeks time,” said Paul DeGooyer, senior vice president of music and games for MTV Games. “Rock Band set the standard for downloadable content in music games, and we continue to innovate as we close in on the release of our 2,000th song.”

Available on PlayStation 3 system on sale from Sept. 21 to Oct. 4.

Rock Band provides the deepest and best selection of artists, songs and albums through the Rock Band music platform, which features more than 400 artists and more than 1,800 tracks via disc and download purchase (complete list of tracks at www.rockband.com/music). To date, more than 73 million songs have been sold through the Rock Band Music Store since its launch Nov. 20, 2007. The Rock Band Music Store allows players to preview and purchase downloadable individual music tracks and packs from the vast selection of offerings available without ever leaving the game as they build their own custom Rock Band library.

With Rock Band 3, available Oct. 26 in North America and Oct. 29 in the rest of the world, players will have immediate access to a music library of 2,000 songs at launch,[1] with new content added weekly. Rock Band 2 is available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 system, PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and Wii. Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 system and Wii versions support downloadable content.

Downloadable content for Wii is purchased via the in-game Rock Band Music Store using Wii Points™ purchased through the Wii™ Shop Channel and can be downloaded to the system memory or to an SD card for additional storage. The tracks stream directly from the SD card for seamless play.

Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and Rock Band 3 are rated "T" for Teen (lyrics, suggestive themes) by the ESRB. Music downloads are not rated by the ESRB.
