Ship Simulator Extremes is a great looking game. VSTEP and Paradox Interactive are about to launch the game (tomorrow!) but we're still getting some new details. Today we learned that you'll be able to sail the Rainbow Warrior III in-game more than a year before the actual Greenpeace ship is completed.
If you buy the "Donation Edition" of Ship Simulator Extremes ($3 more than Standard), 20% of the proceeds will go toward building the actual real-world Rainbow Warrior III. Plus, you'll get entered into winning a trip on one of her first voyages. Pardon my language, but how freakin' sweet is that?
Greenpeace and VSTEP have released a trailer to show her in action. There seems to be a lot to do, especially knowing that the missions are based on actual past actions by Greenpeace at sea. Find out more information from Greenpeace here and click here to pre-order the game.
thought you might be interested in the new ship simulator game, Ship Simulator Extremes, out tomorrow, which features Greenpeace ships Esperanza and the yet-to-be-built Rainbow Warrior III -- in game sequences based on actual past actions at sea.
The simulator is made by VSTEP, and previous versions are already played by a half a million gamers. The ships are all meticulously rendered from blueprints, CAD drawings, and photos to behave like actual simulators. There is also a Rigid Hulled Boat, or RHB -- the legendary Billy G -- which you can launch from the deck and blast through the waves.
You can take the ships in and out of accurately recreated ports. You can control variables like wind speed, wave height, weather, and daylight to customize your adventure. You can create your own missions to upload for other players, and when you successfully complete a Greenpeace mission you unlock video of one of our captains describing how it really went.
The game even re-enforces Greenpeace values: If you ram a whaling ship, your game is over. Greenpeace always practices non-violence.
Best of all, when you buy the donation version of game, 20 percent of the proceeds go to building the REAL Rainbow Warrior, and gets you a chance to win a trip on one of her first voyages.
