Jeremy posted the final Backbreaker trailer earlier today and here's the official press release. The game is out in stores as we speak, crushing some football originality into spines beset with routine football games for too long. Or something like that. In any case, I'm interested in the team creator for this game--it looks like the dev team really cared about the mechanics and created an experience that you could personalize to your shattered vertebra's content.
BACKBREAKER KICKS OFF NEW FOOTBALL SEASON

Highly Anticipated Football Video Game From 505 Games and NaturalMotion Now Available on Xbox 360™ and PlayStation®3

AGOURA HILLS, Calif. - June 1, 2010 - Global video game publisher 505 Games and developer NaturalMotion today announced that the groundbreaking football video game Backbreaker is now available at retail outlets nationwide in North America. As the first sports video game to feature NaturalMotion's critically acclaimed Euphoria engine, Backbreaker delivers next generation football for a new generation of football fans on Xbox 360™ and PlayStation®3.

Canned animations are now a last-season memory, as Backbreaker offers realistic, physics-based motion, crisp high-definition graphics and a camera angle that follows the perspective of the player to deliver a more accurate football game experience than ever before. The innovative camera view thrusts players into the middle of the action, revolutionizing the way football games are played on this generation of consoles.

"Backbreaker delivers hard-hitting action from the minute players pick up the controller," said Adam Kline, president of 505 Games U.S. "Experienced gamers will appreciate how Backbreaker revolutionizes the football genre, and gamers waiting to jump into sports can kick off their rookie season with Backbreaker."

In Backbreaker, special actions like spinning, stiff-arming or juking are mapped to the right stick, with movement mapped to the left stick. While in agile mode, players can run, turn and jump to avoid tacklers and throw off defenders. Players can run faster and are better able to ward off defenders in aggressive mode, though they are more likely to fumble.

Backbreaker ships with 60 preloaded teams that have all been created from scratch using the extensive in-game customization tools. Players can tweak existing logos, uniforms and end zones to their liking, or create completely new ones using the variety of colors, shapes, letters, cutters and blockers found in the customization kit. Backbreaker's online multiplayer support allows gamers to show off their teams' logos, end zone and uniforms with friends.

Rated E for Everyone by the ESRB, Backbreaker is now available at retail outlets nationwide in North America for an MSRP of $49.99 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation3. For all of the latest information, please visit the official website at: http://www.backbreakergame.com/
