Yes I'm very excited about the news. The original was one of the games I played a ton of when it was on the Dreamcase and out in the arcades. The series leaps onto the next gen as Sega has announced that Virtua Tennis 3 will be released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the Spring of 2007. Sega sure picked a great title to lead off their E3 news bonanza.

SAN FRANCISCO & LONDON (April 25, 2006) – SEGA of America, Inc. and SEGA Europe Ltd. today announced Virtua Tennis 3™ developed by AM2 Studios. Virtua Tennis 3™ takes to the court on the Sony PlayStation® 3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360™. Gamers will experience new levels of realism never thought possible on a home console system.

The Virtua Tennis series has been well-received by critics and fans for its "ease of play but difficult to master" gameplay. With Virtua Tennis 3, the series returns with enhanced photo-realistic graphics and advanced player animations that perfectly match the behavior and mannerisms of individual professional athletes. Next-generation systems allow gamers to see the most detailed expressions on the faces of their selected players as they battle to win heated tournaments around the world. Improvements to the game's AI have also upped the challenge to becoming the top seed of the tennis world.
