IGN has their
impressions up for an early build of
Spiderman Shattered Dimensions. The title pretty much says it all: this game is about four separate Spiderman comic worlds colliding into one huge catastrophe. Four different worlds will be featured in the game, and you'll play as a different Spidey in each. So far only two have been revealed--the classic Amazing Spiderman, and the much darker, stealth-oriented Spiderman Noir. Apparently the graphical and gameplay styles differ greatly between the four dimensions.
I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. There's a lot of potential for cool comic references and tons of disparate characters and villains to show up here. Then again, with so many gimmicks in the past few Spidey games, I'd prefer they take it back to the basics we saw in the old PS1/N64/Dreamcast Spidey, or the pure, carefree sandbox gameplay from
Ultimate Spiderman. We'll see if Shattered Dimensions is a brilliant crossover epic or a clone saga nightmare when it releases later this year.
