A March update to Atlantica Online added new features to the free-to-play MMO. A new squad dungeon, mercenary only accessories, and even a new mercenary have been added (in addition to other fixes). Empress Himiko is another mercenary that players can recruit to fight on their side. With both "Blessing" and "Curse" spells and a powerful bow, the Empress would be a good addition to any player's team.

Empress Himiko Brings Blessing, Curse to Atlantica Online

Los Angeles - March 23, 2010 - A new era of might and magic introduces mercenary Empress Himiko to Atlantica Online, Ndoors Interactive's strategic, turn-based massively multi-player online role-playing game (MMORPG). In Atlantica Online, the empress Himiko controls powerful primal forces to complete missions. From cursing enemies with their own blood to preventing adversaries from using magic, the empress is a valuable cohort for a player's ranks. Himiko is a Class B Mercenary who lends many helpful features to those who chose to recruit her, including:
Empress' Blessing: This powerful spell shields allies from all magic cast by an opponent
Empress' Curse: The counterpart to Himiko's Blessing prevents enemies from using magic for a certain period of time
Empress' Bow: A character using this bow will cause more damage to ranged-type mercenaries (those who use a bow, gun, cannon or instrument) in a player vs. player (PvP) battle
"Empress Himiko is a formidable recruit for any Atlantica Online player looking to dominate," said Peter Kang, CEO, Ndoors Interactive. "We are excited to introduce her to the community and wait with bated breath to see the havoc she will wreak on her enemies with her powerful magic."
The Empress can be obtained by completing the Empress Recruitment quest, on which a player embarks after speaking with NPC Sumi, who is located inside the haunted Tatami Room. Empress Recruitment items can also be gained through Merchant Mercurious in exchange for evil-slaying arrows.
Atlantica Online combines innovative combat with profound character and party development, where players can assemble a clan of mercenaries to assist them in their adventures, as well as city and country management. Players take on the physically and mentally demanding quest to destroy the Oriharukon, a powerful energy source from the lost civilization of Atlantis. This dangerous element survived the demise of the "Lost City," and its rampant spread is quickly endangering humanity. The epic journey takes players to some of the most historic and exotic locations around the globe, where they will come face-to-face with vicious monsters ripped from history and lore.
