IL-2 Sturmovik has hit a demo downloading milestone, with a total of more than 1,000,000 downloads. Notice, I put that in number form to help show everyone how big that really is, as opposed to typing the word "one million," which isn't as effective at showing the true magnitude of such a feat. Anyway, congrats IL-2 team! You've obviously created a hit! If the demo is as good as the numbers say, I'd better go check it out too! That is, once I buy my PS3 Slim at the end of the year. Thank God (and Sony, of course) for that price drop. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to see what all the excitement's about!

AGOURA HILLS, Calif. - Sept. 2, 2009 - 505 Games, in collaboration with 1C Company, today announced that the demo for IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey has reached a combined one million downloads on Xbox LIVE for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and on PlayStation®Network for PlayStation®3. The game will release in North America on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 for Xbox 360™ and PLAYSTATION®3, and on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 on Nintendo DS and the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system.

In IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, players engage in the most famous confrontations of the European front, piloting fighters or heavy bombers across a range of missions. There are six theatres of war in which to engage - The Battle of Britain, Stalingrad, Berlin, Sicily, the Battle of the Bulge and Korsun - representing the main airborne battles of World War II in Europe.

Taking environmental and landscape visuals to new heights by incorporating satellite technology, IL-2 also boasts a tangible damage effects engine. Players will see real-time damage to the aircraft such as holes in the wings and trail lines during dogfights. IL-2 will support up to 16 players in multiplayer aerial combat set across four scenarios - Dogfight, Team Battle, Strike and Capture the Airfield.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey will be published by 505 Games in collaboration with 1C Company, and will be available in North America on September 8, 2009 for Xbox 360 and PS3, and on September 15 for DS and PSP.
