MMO deaths are fairly interesting things as only the hardcore members of the community are left to watch the switch get flipped from 1 to 0. The shutdowns also give the devs of the game a chance to reward the hard core members and give them a chance to say good-bye to their community for all the time they've invested in their product.
The latest MMO to head to the great server farm in the sky was the
Matrix Online which shut down last Friday. Given the premise and popularity of the first film you would have thought the MMO would have a chance but it didn't work out although the game did have a near four year run. Getting to the point the folks at Massively have
documented the last hours of the MMO and it looks like a good time was had by all as the switch was flipped off.
