After dragging ourselves out of bed for the 8:00 a.m.
JVC press event, we were impressed with several of the new products that JVC introduced. The hit of the event for JVC was the Super Thin LCD that featured a magnetic back. As thy said in the press event, it was the world’s largest refrigerator magnet. It is a 32” panel that is lightweight and only .28 inches thick with a flush back panel and a single cable that connects both power and video feeds. This working prototype was absolutely stunning to look at, whether at the picture quality or the cabinet itself.
On the audio side of the house, JVC introduced all new colors for its Gumy and Marshmallow headphones to match those of the iPod Nano and Shuffle. The colors that will be available include white (Gumy), silver (Marshmallow), black, blue, purple, green, yellow, orange, red and pink. In addition, a new line was introduced called HA-S150 Flats, which are foldable headphones that will retail for $19.95. They also come in six iPod matching colors including black, silver, red, purple, blue and pink.
JVC also introduced three 5.1 HTiB units with various pricing and street dates. They are the TH-G51 ($429 - June), TH-G41 ($329 - May) and the TH-G31 ($249 - April). They all have 1000 total watts, 1080p Up-conversion and HDMI out. All sport the traditional JVC black finish and with blue display lighting.
Of the three micro shelf systems that were introduced, the best of show was probably the UX-GN6. It features a full “laser touch” panel display and controls, as well as an iPod dock. It also has video out, CD and Am/FM playback with 120 total watts. It is due to hit retail in March with and MSRP of $199. The other units introduced were the UX-LP5 ($149) and the UX-G200 ($99), both also due out in March.
The LCD lineup included updates to their iPod docking TeleDock LCD TVs, an LCD/Blu-Ray combo TV and a new line J-Series LCD Televisions. Check out the images below to see the sleek new designs.
JVC had one 3 chip DILA projector on display and it was a beauty. The DLA-HD350 has full 1080p, 1,000 lumens, 30,000:1 contrast ratio, motorized lens and cover, two HDMI and one component input. The picture it put out in the display theater was bright and looked great.
Overall, JVC had another really good show with one of the coolest prototype products on the floor in the slim LCD TV.
