Blood Bowl : Goblins vs. Skaven - New Screens!
Focus Home Interactive and Cyanide Studio are happy to unveil several exciting new screenshots taken from Blood Bowl, the videogame adaptation of the renowned board game from Games Workshop. In these new screens, we are introducing two new teams - the Goblins and the Skaven.
An ultra-violent mix of American football and other team sports, Blood Bowl takes place in the popular Warhammer universe, and allows players to build the ultimate "fantasy" teams. Would-be team managers can build bone-crushing teams composed of Orcs, Elves, Humans, Dwarfs and many more fantastic creatures - then throw them into the arena for the ultimate blood sport! Blood Bowl is strategic, action-packed and violent, requiring players to use their best tactics, team design - and a dose of pure ruthless bloodlust always helps too!We have previously unveiled the first four races of the game (Orcs, Humans, Dwarfs and Lizardmen.) Now it's time for Goblins and Skaven to enter the arena!
The Goblins are small and cowardly creatures, renowned for their low intelligence yet sneaky attitude. One can often find them accompanied by gigantic Trolls (who are even dumber), in formations that seem more humorous than dangerous. Goblins, due to their small height and agility, make good receivers, but their chance of blocking a human-sized adversary is nearly nonexistent. Make no mistake about Goblins, though, they often use the most perverse weapons and techniques to counter their low strength - including the unique "Goblin throw!" In this play, a troll will grab a Goblin and throw him into position deep into enemy territory bypassing the opponents defensive line altogether. - a must for Goblins teams, as long as the Troll doesn't decide to eat his small teammate before executing this move!
On the other side, Skaven, born of the foul magic of Chaos, are half-man and half-rat creatures, and though far from being the strongest or toughest players in Blood Bowl, wow are they fast! Many teams have been surprised by a Skaven slipping though their defensive lines to score a dazzling touchdown. Skaven can also call upon the phenomenal power of a Rat Ogre to counter their opponents and block the toughest players.
Blood Bowl is set for release on Q1 2009.
Blood Bowl is being developed for the PC and the Xbox 360™ as well as for the Nintendo DS™ and Sony PSP™ handheld systems.
