On their official blog, YouTube announced that they are currently in Beta with bringing YouTube to our TV sets via the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii. YouTube for Television will bring a new user interface on their website that will allow for easier viewing on TVs. Here is the explanation from the blog post:

"Have you ever wanted to just sit on your couch and watch YouTube on your TV? Well, now that's possible via YouTube for Television, initially available through the Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii game consoles at www.youtube.com/tv. Currently in beta, the TV Website offers a dynamic, lean-back, 10-foot television viewing experience through a streamlined interface that enables you to discover, watch and share YouTube videos on any TV screen with just a few quick clicks of your remote control. "

One of the themes we saw at CES was the "Connected TV", which essentially was a TV that was capable of displaying web based widgets as well as streaming from companies like Netflix, Blockbuster and YouTube. Should be interesting to see how this war to get into our living rooms heats up over the next couple of years.

Update (Chuck) - here's a video from Sony on how to get it working on the PS3
