Wii-kly Shopping List: A couple of TurboGrafx classics

It's Monday and that can only mean one thing, it's time for another batch of Virtual Console/WiiWare uploads.  Let's face it, the last couple of weeks haven't been so hot.  Last week saw the completely antiquated Summer Games II, while a week before that it was another lame Alex Kidd game.  So what else could March bring us?  How about two phenomenal import titles for the TurboGrafx-16 (or, rather, the PC Engine)?

Up first we have Bomberman, one Hudson's all time best games.  This Turbo version features 5 player multiplayer, which is a real hoot.  If fast-action party games aren't your thing, then maybe I can interest you in Detana Twin Bee, a variation on the classic Twinbee franchise.  This classic shooter never made its way to these shores, so make sure you don't miss it this time around.  Both of these import titles are given the $1 premium, which brings them to 700 Points (aka $7).  If you're a fan of 2D shooters or classic five-player party games, then this is the week for you!

Unfortunately the WiiWare side of things isn't nearly as exciting.  This week we get a Hudson-made Pop'Em Drop'Em SAMEGAME (no seriously, that's how they spelled it).  The description makes it sound like a four-player puzzle game, but I haven't had any first hand experience with this oddly titled WiiWare game.  Same Game is a free-for-all where everybody is vying for the same blocks on the big grid ... whatever the means.  If you're the type of person that likes mystery puzzle game and you don't mind taking a chance on games with truly awful names, then Pop'Em Drop'Em SAMEGAME is for you.  You can pick it up today for $5.

WiiWare:
  • Pop'Em Drop'Em SAMEGAME (Hudson/500 Points)
Virtual Console:
  • Bomberman (Hudson/PC Engine/700 Points)
  • Detana Twin Bee (Konami/PC Engine/700 Points)
