The NFL is quickly losing its spot as the "only football Americans care about"

More On: FIFA Soccer 13
10 years ago, there was only one football that existed for Americans and it was the NFL (and college and high school, or course).  Those days are thankfully over now, and pretty soon just saying lets play or watch football is not going to be clear enough for everyone to understand.  Apparently, we have EA Sports and their FIFA Soccer franchise to thank for that as this ESPN article suggests.

My point is that despite high school football coaches and their desperate attempts to denigrate soccer to ensure all the best athletes try out for the football team instead of the soccer team, soccer's popularity is blowing up here in the United States and North America in general.

For example, the recently released FIFA Soccer 13 saw a 42% increase in day one sales over last year with 353,000 games sold (while a whopping 1.4 million gamers were played in the first 24 hours in North America).  FIFA Soccer 13 also became the biggest single iOS launch in EA history.

Less surprising (given soccer's international popularity), but no less impressive, is the 1.3 million pre-orders worldwide.

Oh, and by the way, FIFA Soccer 13 rocks, as we here at Gaming Nexus can attest to.
