Sega shows that nobody is immune from the hard economic times, regardless of how big or small the company is. Sega has announced that the entire company will undergo some strategic “restructuring”. I think that we all know exactly what that means...
The company is officially consolidating their publishing model to focus on digital content and their existing IP’s such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Total War, Football Manager, and Aliens. The company hopes to reduce its reliance on “packaged goods”. Sega-Sammy is also seeking to consolidate its company in the Western region (read: Sega of America).
Times are changing folks and while we are deeply saddened to hear of even more people within the gaming industry inevitably losing their jobs, we hope that these changes are enough to help keep Sega afloat for the future. Perhaps one day they can rise up to being a true powerhouse in the industry once more...
