This isn’t exactly something that I ever expected to hear: Namco Bandai is taking the Ridge Racer franchise free-to-play. The long-running series’ next installment will be available at no charge on both the PC and the PlayStation 3 later this year with Ridge Racer Driftopia.
Although the base game will be available for free, you will undoubtedly have the option to pay for additional features and upgrades. I think that we all know how this F2P thing works by now. As long as it is free-to-play and not pay-to-win, this could be an incredibly successful venture. It will also be interesting to see how well this is accepted on a home console.
