Resident Evil: Chronicles HD slated for June 26th
Capcom finally has a release date for Resident Evil: Chronicles HD, and it's June 26th. The collection of the two titles--Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles--will be available for $26.99 on the Playstation store on that date. They'll be available separately on July 17th for $14.99 each, but don't ask me why it'll take nearly a month for Sony to make the two titles available individually.
No offense to Capcom or Sony, but this is another case of "been there, played that" for me. I already had the RE Chronicles shooters years ago on Wii, and it's just another case of excellent Wii games getting ported like warmed-up leftovers to a digital service, which already irks me a little. Sadly the same goes for PS Move, which is why a lot of Wii titles are being ported in the first place. I have an HD console (a 360) for the big, traditional games HD games, and I already have a Wii for motion based games and more quirky, original titles. I don't need another console or add-on controller that does essentially the same thing the Wii does, with the exact same games the Wii already has.
We’re pleased to confirm that the previously announced Resident Evil: Chronicles HD Collection will be available to purchase from the PlayStation Store on June 26th in North America for $26.99. The collection features previously released Resident Evil titles – Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, which have been remastered for the PlayStation 3 with stunning HD graphics and PlayStation Move compatibility.
The titles will also be available to purchase separately for $14.99 each from the PlayStation Store starting July 17th.
