Focus Home Interactive launched La Vuelta Online yesterday after the success of their first cycling competition, Tour de France Online.
The game is a free, browser based one designed by Cyanide studio in which you can configure and customize a team of 9 cyclists in preparation of the competition that follows La Vuelta 2009’s official stages and route through Spain. A Coach Page allows you to manage the team in a variety of ways: skills, physical condition, and strategy.
Skills can be added by either modifying the team members’ individual equipment – including the frame, wheel, and helmet – or by using skill points to be applied to the entire team. You can only develop one skill at a time, while queuing up another. Your next 20 skills can be planned via the planner.
To keep your team in top physical shape, you’ll have to make sure they undergo massages. You can ask the Massage Therapist to keep an eye out and automatically do this for you.
By giving your team specific instructions, you can collaborate your strategy with your skills. During each stage, you can view the sequence and compare how your strategy fares with others’. When the stage is complete, the results will be posted.
The game clearly takes a lot of preparation and forethought, which you’ll have to constantly update to keep up with the other players online. Winners of the competition will be up for winning PC video games as a bonus.
