With rumors running rampant the last several weeks,
Microsoft came out and did the unthinkable and
announced that they were laying off 5,000 positions, primarily at Redmond Headquarters. Effective today, 1,400 jobs were eliminated, with the remainder to come during the rest of 2009. No word on the exact departments effected, but there has been an eerie silence out of all the Microsoft related channels I follow on a daily basis. Hope none of the good people I know were impacted. I'm sure we will learn more of the fallout in the coming weeks and how it will impact PC, Xbox 360 and Zune product lines.
