Madden 07 sells 2 million and tops $100 million

EA has word that Madden 07 has opened to a staggering 2 million units sold for the first week of the game. It's become the most popular online game for the 360 during the week as well with a ton of achievements unlocked and over two million hours of online game play already conducted. The demo just hit Xbox Live Arcade if you would like to check it out before you buy but chances are if you were interested in the game, you probably snatched it up already.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 31, 2006--Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:ERTS), estimates that customers have purchased more than two million copies of Madden NFL 07 in its first week -- the best performance in the 17-year history of the game franchise. Unit sales are roughly 12 percent higher than one year ago.

Within five days of the launch, Madden players unlocked more than 600,000 achievements and logged more than two million hours of online game play. That's the equivalent of 228 years of online gaming in less than a week.
