Fishlabs in collaboration with bitComposer Games have announced the arrival of Galaxy on Fire 2 Full HD for Windows PC. Originally released for iOS devices, Galaxy on Fire 2 has since launched on multiple platforms including Mac, Android smartphones and tablets (only devices that include the Tegra 2 chip), and BlackBerry PlayBook. The Full HD edition introduces brand new high resolution graphics for owners of the game on either PC or Mac.
I reviewed the Mac version after launch and found that various aspects of the game were well polished, but it lacked exciting or interesting content resulting in a lackluster gameplay experience. Galaxy on Fire 2 Full HD is available now for Windows PC with boxed and digital versions selling for $20. For a limited time, Origin is selling the game with a 20% discount from its original price. As well, the game is available on Steam.

Hamburg, Germany - August 22nd, 2012 - In co-operation with bitComposer, the multi-award-winning open space saga Galaxy on Fire 2™ is now available for Windows PC with Full HD visuals and complete English and German voice-over as boxed copy as well as digital download via Steam and Origin for €14.99 / $19.99 / £13.99. For a limited time only, Origin is celebrating the PC release of the epic outer space adventure with a 20% discount. The critically acclaimed sci-fi saga with a spectacular Metacritic score of 90 is the first title of the Hamburg-based premium game developer Fishlabs Entertainment which successfully made the transgression from mobile to PC. All in all, the Galaxy on Fire series has generated more than 20,000,000 installs on a huge variety of platforms and devices. Besides Windows PC, the 3D space combat and trading simulation is also available for Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and several Android smartphones and tablets (Xperia Play and devices with a Tegra2 chip) as well as the BlackBerry® PlayBook™.
“The PC version of Galaxy on Fire 2 is a very important milestone for our company and everyone at the studio is extremely proud of it,“ says Michael Schade, CEO of Fishlabs Entertainment. “When we released the first installment of the GOF saga seven years ago, we brought the once-so-popular genre of the sci-fi shooter back to life on mobile devices and when the title finally made it to the iPhone and iPad, it quickly set new standards for AAA space games on the App Store. And now we’re ready to turn the page and lift the Galaxy on Fire saga to a whole new level. The instance, that a mobile game covers the whole distance from Java to PC, is pretty unique and it is a wonderful example of how fast mobile gaming evolves these days and which direction the whole games industry is going to take in the future!”
About Galaxy on Fire 2™ Full HD:
In Galaxy on Fire 2™ Full HD the player will not only be able to explore a vast, living galaxy with more than 20 different star systems, 100 individual space stations and 30 fully customizable space ships, but he will also be able to follow a rich and engrossing story line with full English voice acting. The title’s epic plot centres on the protagonist Keith T. Maxwell’s bold and daring adventures in a war-torn galaxy governed by four different factions, namely the Terrans, the Vossk, the Nivelians and the Midorians. Due to a malfunction of his hyper drive, Keith T. Maxwell is catapulted through space and time. 35 years later, he awakens at the far end of the galaxy, where he soon realizes that quite a lot has changed during his unintentional absence. An aggressive and particularly devious alien menace known as Voids threatens the fragile peace between the different alien races by launching devastating raids on freighters and convoys of all factions. And Keith T. Maxwell is the only one who can stand up to this seemingly invincible enemy and save the universe from its impending descent into chaos. Besides a variety of story-based tasks and missions, the player can also take on an infinite number of freelance missions at any time or try his luck as a collector of achievements. All in all, there is a total of 36 bronze, silver and gold achievements available, all of which can be checked out after the obligatory Steam activation of the boxed version.
