Good news for Linux gamers. The engine that powers such games as Ryse and Crysis is coming to the land of the Penguin. Engadget is reporting that CryEngine will be getting Linux support in the near future.
What does this mean? Well, besides opening up some more games to Linux, it will bring a small boost to Steam Machines running SteamOS, which is a fork of Linux. Developers can then create games that run natively in Linux. As more and more engines start supporting Linux, SteamOS and Linux becomes a more viable OS for gamers and it's always good to have a choice.
