CES 2007 - Foxconn

More On:
I've only recently begun to work with Foxconn and they were kind enough to invite me to their suite in the Bellagio hotel. They're best known for their motherboards but are moving into the graphics line. I recently reviewed their GeForce 8800 GTX card and really liked the bundle. There wasn't much new in their area as their NvIDIA 680i motherboard isn't set to go into production until some time later in Q1. What I did see was a refresh of some of their current line.

They were showcasing their motherboard line but touched on two in particular. The C51XEM2AA-8EKRS2H is an SLI board for Socket AM2 AMD Athlon64 processors. It features the NVIDIA NF590 SLI northbridge chip. Four DIMMS for a maximum memory of 8GB are available on this product. Since this an SLI motherboard, there are 2 PCI-E X16 slots. One PCI-E X1, one PCI-E X4, and two PCI slots round out the expansion features of this one. The black motherboard has a nice look with a bright yellow NVIDIA fan cooling the northbridge chip.

The other motherboard is the G9657MA-8KS2H for the Intel platform. This LGA 775 motherboard is made for HTPCs as it features an onboard graphics card powered by Intel GMA X3000 graphics accelerator. This motherboard can also handle 8GB of total memory through the four DIMM slots. One PCI-E X16, 1 PCI-E X1, and 2 PCI slots give you some expansion capabilties to round out your HTPC. To transfer those large video files, the motherboard is equipped with a 10/100/1000 LAN.

While Foxconn didn't have anything really new to show, they have a solid line of products and I'm really excited to see what they have coming down the pipeline.
