CD Projekt RED and GOG.com just held their summer conference to reveal a new tripe-A RPG in the works, as well as an assortment of other news regarding The Witcher and The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition, upcoming GOG.com game releases and pre-orders, and even a slow jam of appreciation for developers (see the footage in discussion). I've condensed the conference announcements into a recap below:
  • CD Projekt RED now has two development teams, with both of them working on two triple-A RPGs.
  • One of the development teams that's comprised of seasoned developers of both Witcher titles is in the process of creating a game based upon the Cyberpunk pen-and-paper-RPG system by Mike Pondsmith. The first piece of Cyberpunk concept art is attached below.
  • The developers provided six promises for the game's development: 1) mature RPG that's brutal and realistic, 2) gripping, non-linear narrative that's filled with life and detail, 3) advanced RPG mechanics, 4) varied selection of different character classes, 5) gigantic arsenal of weapons, upgrades, implants, and high-tech toys, 6) and for the game to set a new standard in the futuristic RPG genre.
  • The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition will be arriving on Macs in fall 2012 with a completely-native version.
  • Every owner of the original Witcher can now download a digital backup copy of their game from GOG.com, which is the newest version available and without any form of DRM.
  • In GOG.com classic game news, Sid Meier’s Colonization ($6) and Tomb Raider 1+2+3 bundle ($10) are now available for purchase.
  • In addition, GOG.com as two new games available for pre-order including Retro City Rampage ($15, July 1) and Tiny and Big: Grandpa's Leftovers ($10 or $9 for pre-order, June 19).
  • Lastly, anyone that pre-orders the upcoming adventure game Resonance ($10 or $9 for pre-order, June 19) on GOG.com will receive a preview version that contains the first four hours of gameplay.
