Game Room on the Xbox 360 may be dead and forgotten just like the arcades of yesteryear but it seems that Sony is now reviving arcades in their own way with Playstation Home Arcade. PlayStation Home Arcade is a new service that lets you buy and play arcade classics from PlayStation Home or on your Playstation Vita.
The games currently available are
Frogger
Time Pilot
Asteroids
Centipede
Astrosmash Gen 2
Shark! Shark! Gen 2
Mad Bomber
Downloading the free app will also get you Icebreaker and WipEout 2D for free plus a demo of Scribble Shooter. Games will cost $1.49 each and all games purchased will be playable on both PlayStation Home and PS Vita at no available cost.
The service is available now in PlayStation Home or on PlayStation Vita via the PSN Store.
Now I know a lot of people are laughing at this saying that they didnt buy a $200 vita to play arcade games but I am VERY excited about this. Arcade games and old Atari/Colecovision/Intellivision games will always hold a place in my heart. While the other kids were playing NES, I was playing Intellivision with my father as a child and I still love to play these games to this day.
