Have you heard of the Showdown Effect? If not, you had better become familiar because you are missing out! The game, which is coming from Arrowhead Game Studios and Paradox Interactive, recently moved into the closed beta phase of its development. The game is a combination of 80’s and 90’s action movie stereotypes and Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. series.
Imagine suiting up as a stereotypical action star like Bruce Willis in Die Hard and battling it out with up to 7 others online in the biggest, baddest action movie fight scene ever. That pretty much describes this game. It is as over the top as you can imagine that it is, complete with a guitar riff introduction and montage music that brings the battles to a close. Check out the trailer below to get an idea of just what the game has in store for you.
Our friends over at Paradox Interactive have given us a few codes to give to our readers that will get you into the closed beta as we speak. You will have access to two different characters and two maps and be given the ability to sample the insane action offered by this game as a sample of what is to come when the full game launches. Head on over to our Twitter feed and keep an eye out as I will be rolling out a variety of codes over the course of the next 24 hours. Be on the lookout for these codes accompanied by the hashtag #TheShowdownEffect for your chance to play the game before everyone else.
