THQ isn’t the only gaming company facing troubles and filing bankruptcy:
Atari is officially in the same boat.
According to
Joystiq, the historic company has officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this week. All of the company’s assets, including its historic logo and franchises such as Pong and Asteroids, are set to be auctioned off in the upcoming months.
It is sad to see such an iconic company face a demise such as this one and we can only hope that someone in this industry acquires and respects the franchises and their legacies. I am sure that there are some titles in their portfolio that could be ripe for re-imagining in the modern generation of games.
