Xbox Live Vision
When I got home today, I found a small package from Microsoft sitting on my desk. I wasn't expecting anything from them that's for sure but upon opening the package I found the
Xbox Live Vision camera that's due out September 19th.
The camera's in the white design that fits well with the Xbox 360's branding. The ring of light appears on the camera as well on the front when it's in use. This will give you a visual cue that the camera is activated. I was suprised at how small the camera is. The base has a square rubber piece on the bottom to help prevent slipping while the lense is mounted on the base via an adjustable arm. The arm allows you to adjust the angle it's facing. You can also turn the camera left and right. The lense has a rotatable piece at the end whereby you can adjust the focus. Specs are 640x480 video at 30 frames per second and still photos at 1.3 megapixels.
The cord is very generous in length so you shouldn't have trouble hooking it up to the rear USB port. Since it's a USB connection, you can also use this camera on your PC. You'll need drivers though as I was prompted to install them when I plugged it into my computer.
My Xbox 360 recognized the camera right away and that setup area showed my face on the screen. Setting up is a piece of cake on the console and you'll be ready to show your mug in seconds.
The camera will come in two packages:

About Author
I've been reviewing products since 1997 and started out at Gaming Nexus. As one of the original writers, I was tapped to do action games and hardware. Nowadays, I work with a great group of folks on here to bring to you news and reviews on all things PC and consoles.
As for what I enjoy, I love action and survival games. I'm more of a PC gamer now than I used to be, but still enjoy the occasional console fair. Lately, I've been really playing a ton of retro games after building an arcade cabinet for myself and the kids. There's some old games I love to revisit and the cabinet really does a great job at bringing back that nostalgic feeling of going to the arcade.
