I've been using the ASUS 1201N as my E3 and CES computer for the past year and a half. I love the size and that I can do what I need to do to bring you the coverage of CES and E3 in a small package. That's going to change this year.
Check out the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer. It's a netbook and tablet in one. When docked, this little baby gives you a chiclet keyboard with a few USB ports and a card reader so that I can transfer video from my camcorder to the computer to be uploaded to YouTube. The keyboard will almost double the battery life of the Transformer as well.
Now, on the go you can unhook the Transformer and carry it as tablet. It runs on Honeycomb, or Android 3.0 which is built for tablets. The Transformer comes in either 16GB or 32GB and there's a micro SD card slot built in that allows you to expand the memory even further. Also, there's a 5MP camera on the back and 1.2MP on the front for video chat.
Just like the iPad 2, the Transformer features a 10.1" IPS panel capable of 1280x800 resolution with great viewing angles.
The only thing I don't like is there are no USB ports on the tablet itself, but they are on the keyboard dock. I would've liked to have just one on the tablet, but it is what it is. At least there's a working micro SD card slot on the sucker.
I ordered mine via NewEgg with overnight shipping last Thursday, but it's been held up somewhere. I'm guessing NewEgg made the mistake of having it available on Thursday as release date is tomorrow. Still, it would have been nice if NewEgg told me they couldn't send it until today as I paid for overnight shipping.
In any case, I will be using the Transformer as my "netbook" to post news when I am at E3 and CES.
I'm not into the tablet form that much, as that will probably be played more by my son as a replacement for his broken DVD player as well as playing Flash games online. But, having 16+ hours of operation with the dock makes it an ideal solution for me to take to conventions and not having to think about plugging it into an outlet halfway through the day.
