THQ announces The Last Airbender: The Movie: The Game
Ok, I had to get that old Street Fighter reference in there. Anyway, the fine folks at THQ have teamed up with Nickelodeon for the game version of The Last Airbender. You’ll be able to play as Aang, the titular hero—no surprise there, previous Airbender games let you do that. What’s unique about this one is that you can also play as a villainous Prince Zuko, scar and all. The game is also a Wii and DS exclusive, which could be a big score for Nintendo if the game is good; both kids and anime fans love the series and are warming up to the love-him-or-hate-him M. Night Shyamalan and his interpretation.
I was never really into the Airbender show when it was running but my brother and sister loved it. In any case I think it’s too bad that James Cameron janked the iconic Avatar title out from under the Airbender movie—in my opinion the Airbender series has a much richer plot than Cameron’s Avatar.
