Disney's upcoming racer
Split/Second has an interesting feature--when you've reached certain conditions, you can activate a powerplay. The ensuing action sets off explosions, demolition and other random chaos on the track, disrupting the competition and giving you a leg up. In the second making-of featurette the developers talk about choreographic the powerplays, scripting them and still making them seem random. It reminds me of elaborately staged VFX sequences in summer action movies, but I have to wonder, do these explosive events alter the track over the course of the race?
