We won't know if this 3D thing will really take off but Sony's gone and become the premier sponsor for the 3D Gaming Summit that's going to take place on April 21 and 22 in University City, CA. Sony's going to be issuing an update in the future to allow 3D Blu-rays to be played on a PlayStation 3 and combined with a 3D TV and glasses, let you watch movies like Avatar and Alice in Wonderland in all its glory.
I've been playing a lot of games on the PC using the NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision kit and it's a hit or miss experience. When it works though it's pretty damn fun so games like Just Cause 2 and Left 4 Dead really pop off the screen offering up a brand new experience. I still have some doubts on its popularity in the near future though but from what I've seen, the TVs aren't really priced at a premium over comparable TVs so at least the companies aren't gouging the consumer on that aspect. The glasses, though, are still kinda expensive.
