If there is one thing that I think that the video game industry is lacking, its light-gun games. Admit it, we have all had a blast at one time or another with a friend hilding a giant, clunky, plastic gun at some sort of arcade establishment. I don’t think that it would be that far of a stretch to call Sega the “King of the light-gun games”; they have made more than a few over the years and they have all been among the best of the genre. One of Sega’s more recent titles, GHOST Squad, which made its way to the Wii last year, is receiving a sequel in Japanese arcades, called
Operation GHOST.
The game is currently undergoing a series of location tests throughout Japan. The game is a direct sequel to the first game and uses many of the same gameplay mechanics of the original game. Players use a light-gun equipped with grenade and action buttons for special action sequences during gameplay. There are only two missions included in the current version of the game, but remember that this is only a testing unit. Sega has already launched an official web site for the Japanese version of the game, which can be found
here. The full game is expected to launch later this year.
Just like the TRON: Legacy Pinball game I
mentioned yesterday, this is something that I hope to run across this machine one of these days.
