Rocket Knight now available for download
Steam users and XBLA customers can now download Rocket Knight, the modern reboot of the Genesis classic. The rocket-pack Opossum platformer has gotten pretty obscure these days (Cyril had to remind me about the original) but it was an innovative title back in the mid 90s. The new game is 1200 Microsoft Points and $20 on Steam, which is a little steep if you ask me but if it's a quality platformer it just might be worth it. I'm glad we're seeing retro revivals like this and Sonic 4--Nintendo shouldn't be the only publisher in town that can do a good job with its classic titles.

Konami's Favorite Opossum Hero Launches
to New Heights to Defend His Kingdom
El Segundo, Calif. - May 12, 2010 - Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today announced the availability of Rocket Knight for Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC download via Steam. The title's release marks the first time the franchise will be offered on next generation platforms, lushly animated with rich new environments.
"Given Konami's strong legacy of timeless 2D platform games, the availability of Rocket Knight on next gen consoles has allowed us to introduce a new generation of gamers to such a classic franchise," said Shinji Hirano, President for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "In Rocket Knight, we wanted to stay true to the game's origins and provide consumers with the exciting rocket action gameplay they expect from Sparkster."
In Rocket Knight, players assume the role of a courageous opossum named Sparkster who finds his home in a dreadful state after a 15-year absence. Employing Sparkster's faithful rocket pack and indomitable spirit, players must fight against the destructive wolf army that threatens Sparkster's homeland, the Kingdom of Zephyrus. As players progress through the game, they will encounter vast worlds comprised of vast platforming levels and thrilling rocket flying stages.
Help Sparkster on his quest to save Zephyrus! Use Sparkster's rocket pack to ricochet off walls; plow through enemies and create passageways with his rocket drill move. Blast through remote adversaries with deadly burst projectiles that shoot out of Sparkster's sword, and activate a burst vortex to shield Sparkster from enemy bombs and launch them back at his opponents. Glide down rails using Sparkster's opossum tail to dodge opponents and get himself out of tricky situations. Online leaderboards provide the perfect place for committed players to show off their high scores and best times as they progress to restore Zephyrus to its former glory.
Rocket Knight is now available for download on Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 for 1200 Microsoft Points, and on Steam for $19.99. For more information, please visit http://www.konami.com/rocketknight/.
