It has happened on and off over the last couple of years, so it isn’t really that big of a surprise. North American retailers
Walmart,
Best Buy and
Toys R Us are all preparing to dip their toes into the used video game market once again.
Walmart was the first to announce the move this week. Just a few days ago, the store announced that they were entering into a lease agreement to test out the start up service “Game Trade” in 5 locations across the company. The locations would not only sell used items, but also accept the trade of games, movies, and hardware for either cash or store credit.
Not to be out done,
Best Buy and
Toys R Us appear to be following suit. Rumors are swirling that each of these retailers is preparing plans of their own to get into the same market though their details are yet to be confirmed.
