The next PlayStation Magazine has a
few little rumor nuggets going around but there's a game or two on page 20 that's gotten the Sony community all fired up. Talk of 2010 games include
Resistance 3,
Killzone 3, and the next Call of Duty: World at War from Treyarch.
Let's go through the list really quick. The next Call of Duty, I think, is a pretty good bet as Activision has setup a pipeline of Call of Duty games each year with Infinity Ward and Treyarch alternating years on a product. This year we get
Modern Warfare 2 next month so it's Treyarch's time next year.
Resistance 3 seems to be another one that looks to be in line as Insomniac Games has a two year development cycle on this series with the first one released in November of 2006 while the last one was released November of 2008. 2010 seems to be the year for the next Resistance title should they continue with the trend.
Killzone 3 is the wild card though. As I talked with Chuck, I thought it would be too soon for Guerrila Games but he thinks it's all quite possible for the game to come out in a little over a year and a half or a year and three quarters. Yes, they have the engine in place and the multiplayer structure so it's all quite feasible. Would a company like Guerilla Games be satisfied with a few tweaks to the graphics and gameplay and call it a third Killzone?
