Following the lead of their competitor Netflix,
Redbox has finally announced a nationwide rollout of the price increases for daily DVD rentals they have been testing in select markets around the country. Effective November 1st, a $0.20 increase will be added to all standard daily DVD rentals (now $1.20.) The small amount was chosen to help offset increases in fees according to the Redbox
price change FAQ.
Of great news is that the price increase does not affect Blu-Ray or Game rentals, which will remain (for the time being) at $1.50 $2 a day respectively. So it looks like Redbox (for the time being) is still a viable alternative to Netflix and Blockbuster for disc rentals of DVD, Blu-ray and games.
