Move over, Madden. Football of a more international sort is set to join Madden NFL Football just in time for the launch of the 3DS by way of Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D-- or PES 2011 3D, for short.

Judging from Konami's press release, the 3D element of Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D is going to play a significant role in the way that the game is played. Distance between players is going to be easier to ascertain thanks to 3D technology, giving players a better overall indication of how much room they have to dribble and attack or when to pass the ball safely to a waiting teammate. A new Player Camera will be the big addition here, as the gameplay perspective will zoom in to field level. This sounds like a great addition, at least in theory; if a feeling of 3D space between players can be realized, it opens up more lifelike passing or carrying decisions instead of the normal broadcast or overhead perspectives that players have become accustomed to.

While the Player Camera and 3D player spacing are the two biggest attractions, Pro Evolution Soccer 11 3D will also use the Street Pass functionality of the 3DS for quick matches between users without having to play a full game. Results for each match will be determined by comparing each team's stats and strategy sets, and wins can mean unlocking extra players and teams. That's a nice bonus for simply being in the same vicinity as another PES 2011 3D player, and bears at least some similarities with Super Street Fighter IV 3D when it comes to Street Pass matches.

Fans of the Pro Evolution Soccer games will be glad to know that these new additions look to be supporting the same gameplay that has made the series so popular with fans. The game will also boast 60 national teams and 170 club teams, plus it will carry the UEFA Champions League license so chances are good that players will find a few teams that they want to control and be a part of.

It's good to see that a couple of prominent sports titles are going to be available for the 3DS right out of the chute when it launches on March 27th. PES 2011 3D will actually beat the 3DS to retail shelves, as its availability date is set for March 25th. No MSRP was set, but it's realistic to assume that it will sell for $40, just like all of the other 3DS titles that have been listed so far. In the meantime, take a peek at Konami's full press release after the jump... and we'll see you on the pitch next month.

*KICKS OFF ON MARCH 25th*

KONAMI today revealed that Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D (PES 2011 3D) will be released alongside the Nintendo 3DS on March 25th across North America, and is a truly immersive soccer title for the new format. The new game retains the Pro Evolution Soccer series' acclaimed level of control and realism, but the 3D imaging capabilities of the Nintendo 3DS enhance the experience by giving real depth to its many searching passes, long crosses, and interplay of passes.

PES 2011 3D puts you at the heart of every pass, through-ball and shot, with its unique 'Player' camera shadowing the user's every movement, right in the middle of the unfolding match. Thus, players can see their teammates making runs in the channels and moving into space, meaning PES 2011 3D makes the player an integral part of a successful team. Using the 3D capabilities of the Nintendo 3DS, the camera views also allow the user to visually ascertain how far away a teammate is, which allows for more instinctive long passes and dynamic movement.

PES 2011 3D enjoys the amazing level of control that the series is famed for, with searching passes, one-two play(s), deft close control, and rising volleys all shown off to stunning effect, as the game's realism is heightened thanks to the game's incredible use of depth and distance perception. The game's stunning AI also ensures that players not only look identical to their real-life counterparts, but move and react like them too. Players can play as one of 60 National and 170 club sides and lead them to fame. Additionally, PES 2011 3D features play-by-play commentary enhancing the match atmosphere for a more exciting soccer experience.

PES 2011 3D also features exclusive use of the UEFA Champions League™, the game's greatest club competition, while players can also build their own team of budding stars and lead them to glory in the world famous Master League. PES 2011 3D also supports wireless play for two Nintendo 3DS users to compete against each other, and makes use of the Nintendo 3DS system's 'Street Pass' mode. Street Pass adds a competitive element to the Master League mode. It will sense when another Master League team is in the vicinity, and will compare the strength of each side, their respective strategies and stats. It will then award a win to the stronger side. Those with a strong win rate on Street Pass will be promoted to an upper Street Pass Ranking until they reach the ultimate ranking - the UEFA Champions League. Similarly, as users play more and more using Street Pass, the game will unlock Classic players and teams, allowing successful users to create an incredible playing squad!

PES 2011 3D will be released for Nintendo 3DS on March 25th.
