Panasonic is no stranger to the gaming market; the company previously dipped its toes in the gaming market by releasing a console back in 1991 called the 3DO. The lifespan of the 3DO console was shortlived and now, some 20 years later, Panasonic is getting back in the game with a portable gaming console.
Earlier this week, Panasonic unveiled the
Jungle, a portable gaming console aimed at MMO players. The device resembles a small netbook and contains a full-featured QWERTY keyboard, touchpad, direction pad, shoulder buttons, a micro-USB port, and a HDMI port. The operating system that will be utilized is a modified version of the Linux OS.
The Jungle is being designed to give players access to existing MMO’s while on the move; the console is currently using BigPoint’s Battlestar Galactica MMO to demonstrate its capabilities. Panasonic opened a
website and released a brief announcement trailer for the device, shown below, and will hopefully open the floodgates of information on the device soon...
