NVIDIA today announced the
GeForce GTS 450, which is a very affordable Fermi card. For a good amount of folks currently playing on the PC, many of them don't need a top of the line or expensive video card as the resolution they run at dictates a less powerful system needed to get a good experience.
The
GeForce GTS 450 is made for those playing at a maximum resolution of 1680x1050 or 1280x1024 with a little bit of anti-aliasing.192 CUDA cores with 4 polymorph engines and 32 texture units highlight this card while only needing one 6-pin power plug to power it with a max power draw of 106W.
For those wondering, this card was made to go head to head against the
AMD Radeon HD5750. Priced at $129 or lower, you'll be able to purchase this card today. If you wanted a very affordable Fermi card, this one is for you.
To coincide with the launch of the
GeForce GTS 450, NVIDIA is also releasing version R260 drivers. What's so special about these drivers? For one, it's the beginning of a brand new GUI in helping make installation of drivers easier. There's also an option to completely uninstall past drivers with R260 and have the installation resume upon removal and reboot of the computer.
Also, the drivers now incorporate 3D Vision drivers so you no longer have to do a separate install. I know I found it a little annoying a few times when I redid my computer to do a separate install but starting with R260, it'll be included as well.
If you have a multiple display setup, the drivers also incorporate a nice help page to help setup the picture with the displays as well as a nicer bezel correction experience. Also, you'll get the some performance improvements with other Fermi cards as well with the new drivers.
I'm currently reviewing the card so expect a full write up soon about the latest from NVIDIA.
