If you've never heard of Get Games, I'm not surprised. Get Games is an independent online game store straight out of Hamilton in the United Kingdom offering a huge library of games at low prices. According to the press release, they are not a digital distribution service, but a store. The downloadable game keys are "client-agnostic" and can be played on whichever digital distribution platform the customer chooses. From what I'm guessing, that means that once you get the game's key, you can use it on places like Steam. There are a few games on there at a cheaper price at the time of this post (they'll show the regular retail price under it), but a lot of them also seem to be a normal prices that you could find on Steam. Still, the games that are on sale (like Alpha Protocol at $5.99, regularly $19.99) is a pretty decent deal.
INTRODUCING YOUR NEW FAVORITE INTERNET CORNER INDIE SHOP: GET GAMES™ - A BUNCH OF DUDES, A WEB SITE,
AN OLD MAN IN SLIPPERS AND SOME SWEET, SWEET PRICES ON VIDEO GAMES
- Get Games, just like Eddie Murphy in Coming to America…Well, Comes to America -
THE INTERNET – Get Games, an independent destination for video games, straight out of Hamilton in the United Kingdom and the second home to a dedicated team of hardcore gamers-turned-shopkeepers, invades America today. Armed with a huge library of video games for PC and Mac at insanely low prices, Get Games delivers an independent shopping experience for PC gaming fans looking for great deals (www.getgamesgo.com).
The downloadable game keys are client-agnostic and can be played via whichever digital distribution platform the customer chooses. Weekly sales and limited time one-off deals will be posted regularly for gamers looking for bargains in the U.S., including discounted theme-packs and holiday bargains. What holidays? All of them.
“We’re excited to be bringing amazing deals to the U.S. PC gaming fans,” said Get Games’ head honcho and resident ginger, Finley McTavish in his heavy, barely understandable Scottish accent. “Being the little guy on the Internet means great prices for fans and a store that doesn’t make you feel dirty when you buy your games from them. We’re gamers ourselves, and cheap bastards, and are proud to be offering triple-A titles at the best prices from an independent standpoint.”
“Our goal of providing top games at good deals goes hand-in-hand with us wanting to have a direct relationship with our customers,” offered Graeme Shearer, Content Manager. “Our staff page is posted on our web site and our team members are reachable if our customers have any questions. We’ll also be offering staff picks on a regular basis, based on what genre we prefer to play. Hopefully fans looking at specific games or genres can benefit from our deep knowledge of the variety of games we offer.”
