Last week, Nintendo announced that it would be releasing a special Anniversary Edition of the Legend of Zelda: Four Swords at the end of the month. As good as that news is, what is even better is that the game will be free though the Nintendo eShop and DSiWare stores.
Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition will be available beginning on September 28, 2011 and will remain on the digital service stores at no charge until February 20, 2012. There are going to be a couple of changes evident in the new version compared to the original. In addition to the full classic game, the new edition will feature a solo play mode which allows players to take control of two different Links simultaneously and a variety of new stages which can be unlocked by completing the game. The multiplayer modes of the game will also be handled wirelessly this time around (
Four Swords was an absolute blast to play back on the Gamecube and I have no doubts that the new version will be just as enjoyable. You can check out the Japanese announcement trailer for the game below.
