SAN FRANCISCO - April 20, 2010 - The Rotted Treekin of Sparkplay Media's 3D browser-based massively multiplayer online (MMO) game, Earth Eternal, are unleashing a vicious plot to annihilate mankind. Sparkplay is imploring players to put an end to the dastardly scheme in an Earth Day contest in which gamers can take an epic screenshot of their bloody battles with the Rotted Treekin and submit it to the developer. Participants will be competing for the esteemed title "Boss Lumberjack," complete with winning a collectable plush "Shroomie" hat and a forum article dedicated to their combat prowess.
Beginning on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22, the Earth Eternal event runs for two days. Rotted Treekins, corrupt tree creatures of the dead woods, will spawn in numerous areas across the game while innocent Treekins, played by Game Masters (GMs), will call for aid from the players. Screenshot submissions are encouraged viacontest@sparkplaymedia.com and will be displayed on the Sparkplay website, with a panel of official judges selecting their favorite. The winner will be announced in-game at 5 p.m. PST on April 23, 2010.

Players can choose from more than 20 different character races, including the bear-like Ursine, hawk-like Atavians or the mechanical Clockwork, and unlike most MMOs, they are not limited to skills and spells from a particular class, allowing for broader character builds.
