Less than two weeks after buying Marvel Entertainment, Disney has
purchased Wideload games, the Chicago based game developer lead by former Bungie founder Alex Seropian. The developer is known for developing
Stubbs The Zombie and much less so for
Hail to the Chimp.
It's a good move for both companies as Wideload gets some stability and hopefully access to some decent IP's and Disney gains a solid creative mind. I'm guessing this isn't the last acquisition for Disney as the company is looking to expand their reach into the digital world (remember they own Warren Spector's development company as well). It will be interesting to see how the relationship pans out and what Wideload's next project is going to be.
