The LG 2010 press briefing at CES was pretty typical, with faces, facts and the future being discussed. The event started off with the introduction of several new faces in the U.S. and North America, went over LG’s 2009 numbers and talked about what new products the company was bringing about in 2010.
Of the greatest interest to gamers will be the new line of
Infinia TVs, that will sport 480Hz refresh, be THX certified and have two models from the
LE9500 series (47” and 55”) that will be 3D capable. They also have seamless designs, meaning they are wireless ready for connectivity, and will span three series (
LE9500,
LE8500 and
LE7500) of TVs. There was also mention of home projectors and gaming monitors, two new items for LG in 2010. I will take a closer look at these during my booth tour later in the week.
OLED technology was also discussed, albeit briefly, with mention of a 15” commercially available model that is 3.2mm thick and has 10,000,000:1 Contrast ratio. They are also splash resistant and will be available in the first half of 2010.
Another product that caught my attention was the
LG X120 Netbook. It runs on Windows 7, has built-in 3G broadband and GPS, weighs 2.79 lbs and is 1.5 inches thick. With an LG operating system built over Windows 7, it “boots” in 7 seconds.
Check out images of the slides from the press event below, and expect more info once I can get a closer look at the products on Friday.
