May the fourth be with you all, first off.

It's an appropriate day to share some Star Wars related news, and EA dropped a nice big nerdy bomb on all of us this morning.

Patrick Söderlund, Executive Vice President of EA Studios, wrote a quick blog post today on EA's official website that has announced a partnership with Respawn Entertainment to bring the masses another Star Wars game. What is that game? Well, we don't really know yet, though Söderlund decided to tease us all with this statement:

Today, I’m thrilled to be able to announce that EA and the talented team at Respawn Entertainment have expanded our relationship to include the development of an all-new 3rd person action adventure game set in the Star Wars universe. They join our other great studios – Visceral Games, DICE, Capital Games, BioWare, Motive and more – who are currently working on Star Wars projects.

First, let's try and dial back our excitement because this could mean anything. A new action/adventure title in the third person could mean just another style of Clone Wars or Battlefront to be safe.

There's no way to know what it could be, to be up front. I wouldn't get your hopes up for a revitalization of past IPs or anything of that nature. Chances are probably good that this will be related to either The Force Awakens or the upcoming eighth episode of the movie.

Unfortunately, all we can do is speculate. It will be a long and agonizing wait, but here's hoping the folks at Respawn give us what we all want: An epic Star Wars journey.
