Hackers find a way to play Oculus Rift exclusives on the HTC Vive, Oculus doesn't approve

One thing I love about the PC is that you can pretty much use any peripheral for any game. What I mean is you're not locked into a specific brand of keyboard or a specific brand of controller if the game supports it. That is, until you get into the virtual reality space.

Oculus has their own store and many of their games are exclusive to that headset. One game won't even let you play online with those that bought the game from another online store.

Well, it wouldn't take long for some intrepid programmers to find a way to allow some Oculus exclusives be playable on the HTC Vive. A project called Revive will allow games like Luckey's Tale to run on Valve's competing headset and this isn't sitting well with Oculus.

Oculus has told Arstechnica that this is a hack and that they don't condone it. Interestingly, Palmer Luckey said four months ago, that he didn't care if people mod their games to work on whatever they wanted.

Well, stances change I guess. It's too bad really. I hate to see these kind of things happen on the PC side of things and I'd rather have everything work harmoniously. VR is something that's early and needs all the help it can to succeed. We don't need things like exclusive content to one HMD or another, not now and I don't believe ever.
