If you're looking for a FPS fix this week you might want to check out the demo of Bodycount which is now available on Xbox Live (the PSN version is "coming soon"). The demo will allow you to check out some of the weapons in the game and the demo will track your stats as you play so you can re-play it and try to beat your own scores (if you're into that kind of thing).
The full version is set to hit stores on August 30th and be sure to check back here in a few weeks for an exclusive interview with the folks behind the game.
O BALLISTIC WITH BODYCOUNT DEMO, AVAILABLE NOW
Experience the Game that Blasts Fun from Both Barrels Today
LOS ANGELES – August 16, 2011 – Codemasters® invites gamers to go ballistic by downloading the Bodycount™ demo from Xbox® LIVE Marketplace today. The demo lets players sample the outrageous and over-the-top arcade gunplay that takes center stage in the shooter that will make players fall in love with firepower. A new video showing the demo’s explosive firefights is now showing at www.youtube.com/bodycountgame.
“Fans should expect a lot of mayhem, a lot of destruction, fun, fast paced arcade action,” said Max Cant, Art Director. “It’s much more of an A-Team experience than some sort of dour, self-obsessed, self-important thing. If you want to have fun, play Bodycount.”
Set in the early stages of Bodycount’s African missions, players will assume the role of a Network Operative dropped into a chaotic warzone, tasked with tracking down a militia warlord responsible for massacring an army unit. Players, equipped with a turbo-charged arsenal of weapons including the G36 SMG, Super 90 Shotgun, grenades and proximity mines, must engage forces from all sides in blistering-paced gun-fights set amongst a shanty town.
Encouraged to be aggressive in play-style and liberal when it comes to pulling the trigger, players will shred their way through destructible cover as they battle class-based AI including medics who revive fallen foes and a powerful Psycho Tank. Players can augment their already powerful weapon set by collecting Intel from downed enemies which can then be exchanged on the fly for devastating explosive rounds, one of the game’s four upgrades, which also include airstrikes and adrenaline shots.
By completing combat chains and performing skill kills like headshots and kills through cover, players can earn extra Intel and will be rewarded with a higher score at the end of the mission. To add extra replayability, stats tracking player performance and an overall grade are issued at the end of the mission. In the game’s Bodycount mode players can replay all completed levels to improve their score.
A demo for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system will follow. Further details on this release, alongside the latest news, screens and videos, will be released at www.facebook.com/bodycountgame and www.twitter.com/bodycountgame.
Bodycount is set to fire into retail on August 30 in North America for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft® and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.
