Don't Steal Princess until May 19 delay

More On: Steal Princess
Steal PrincessBereft of any fresher ideas, Atlus' marketing team has taken to the tactic of delaying handheld games in order to build sufficient buzz.  A couple days ago they pushed back Class of Heroes' launch until June, and now Steal Princess will slip and slide its way into March 24 April 21 May 19 (yep, this marks release date #3), because "with April being a rather crowded month, there being a rather tough climate out there, and Steal Princess being a daring mix of genres, a little extra time to get buzz and attention is a good thing," said Atlus.

Well.  Two points for honesty.

Being unavailable through "all the usual channels," Atlus is really trying to churn up some pre-orders.  It will at least be available through Amazon, GameCrazy, Wal-Mart, and Gamefly, but that still leaves a painful hole (in the gaping size and approximation of a GameStop) for the publishers to fill in with said buzz.  Even if it were in GameStop, however, you might've missed it over the din of them pushing BioShock 2 pre-orders anyway.

Atlus also revealed that, with 64% of the player-cast votes in its favor, the first of the two Steal Princess mini-posters will be included with each launch copy of this Nintendo DS RPG.  (Preview of the boot-fetishizing image after the jump.)

Atlus pushes Steal Princess™ into May, soothes wounds of disappointment with Spoils

Mini-poster for your thoughts?

Faithful, we have more news-that-could-possibly-be-perceived-as-less-than-desirable.  Steal Princess, the upcoming genre-bending platformer/puzzler for Nintendo DS™, is going to slide ever so gently, ever so softly, into May.

With April being a rather crowded month, there being a rather tough climate out there, and Steal Princess being a daring mix of genres, a little extra time to get buzz and attention is a good thing.  Moreover, Steal Princess is going to be a limited launch, even by Atlus standards (zing!).  It won't be available through all the usual channels, and as such, interested fans are encouraged to pre-order to guarantee their copies.

Now for the good news: after all the votes were counted, 64% preferred the first of the two Steal Princess mini-posters to be included with each and every launch copy.  Izuna 2 veterans will know where to look for it; it will be slipped in behind the cover art, allowing it to get into your hands in pristine, creaseless majesty.  Another game, another Spoils extra.

Look for Steal Princess on May 19th!
